The Department of Computer Science has an excellent opportunity for a Departmental Lecturer in Professional Masters Programme, to start as soon as possible.
Reporting to the Director of the Professional Masters Programme, you will develop and deliver taught modules, set and mark written assignments, and supervise students on the part-time, post-graduate Professional Masters Programme offered by the Department of Computer Science, specifically within the areas of Database Design and Engineering. You may be asked to deliver three one-week taught modules in each year on average, and to provide supervision for between 20 and 25 students. You will also be expected also to act as an effective member of the Programme team, providing appropriate academic support for activities such as student admissions, curriculum development, and University examinations.
You should have a doctorate in a relevant subject, such as: computer science, software engineering, data science, applied statistics, or mathematics, a good understanding of underlying theory and current, industrial practice in software and/or data engineering, a readiness to develop and deliver modules in at least three subjects that fall within the existing or anticipated curriculum for professional education in Computer Science at Oxford, and an aptitude for teaching, and the skills and judgement needed to teach advanced concepts and techniques to working professionals with a range of experiences and expectations. Experience of software, data, or security engineering in a production or teaching context, and experience of delivering training to a professional audience is highly desirable.
