The School of Geography and the Environment and Brasenose College are delighted to offer the exciting opportunity of a Departmental Lectureship to provide cover for Professor Giles Wiggs during his fixed-term period as Head of School. You will be part of a lively and intellectually stimulating research community that performs to the highest international levels in research and publications and will have access to the excellent research facilities that Oxford offers.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in advanced study and research in Physical Geography and to give high-quality lectures, classes and tutorials in Geography at both undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will have a strong research interest in earth surface processes with a specialism in aeolian geomorphology and dust emission in desert environments. You will write research articles for prestigious peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and reviews, present papers at conferences, and lead seminars to disseminate research findings.

To undertake this role you will have (or be close to completing) a relevant PhD/DPhil in physical geography with a specialism in aeolian geomorphology and desert dust emission. You will also need to demonstrate an aptitude for teaching students with high ability, have awareness of pedagogic methods including experience with small-group teaching, and experience of giving classes and lectures. Sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop new teaching materials is essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to support students is a must.
