Departmental Lecturer in Law and Finance

The MSc in Law and Finance (‘MLF’) is a one-year taught Master’s degree, which offers students with a prior background in law the chance to develop an advanced interdisciplinary understanding of relevant economic and financial contexts. The Faculty of Law seeks additional teaching support for the MLF programme for the 2021-22 academic year, in the form of a fixed-term Departmental Lecturer.

The Faculty of Law consequently seeks to appoint a Departmental Lecturer to provide teaching support for the MLF teaching team, especially the MLF core course of Law and Economics of Corporate Transactions (‘LECT’). In relation to the LECT course, the appointee will assist the convenor –Professor Thom Wetzer, Associate Professor of Law and Finance – with the development of new course materials and provide ongoing support with the provision of education. It is also anticipated that the successful appointee will assist with teaching in one or more MLF elective courses delivered by the Faculty of Law, for example Principles of Financial Regulation, and will provide support to the MLF team more broadly.

Applicants should hold, or be close to completion of, a doctorate in a relevant subject, or an established record of accomplishment in research and a record of high-quality research and publication in Law and Finance commensurate with the applicant’s career experience; the ability to provide outstanding teaching to high-achieving students in the taught post-graduate  programmes and especially in the MLF programme and administrative and pastoral skills, to work co-operatively with University and college administration and to deal effectively with the pastoral needs of graduate students.  A familiarity with the transactional practice of corporate and financial law and/or with economic and financial analysis of corporate finance, corporate governance, and/or financial regulation is desirable.

The post is full time and fixed term until 30 September 2022 and will be based at the Law Faculty, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL.
