An excellent opportunity has arisen to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Computer Science, working as part of the Professional Masters team. This team comprises lecturers and professors who teach modules, supervise students, and provide academic support for a programme of advanced education in the areas of software, data, and security engineering.

You will develop and deliver taught modules, set and mark written assignments, supervise students on the part-time, postgraduate Professional Masters Programme, and be expected to provide academic support for activities such as student admissions, curriculum development, and University examinations. The module content and student expectations will be at the leading edge of professional practice, and you will establish and maintain a good understanding of underlying theory and current practice within these.

You should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant subject, such as computer science, software engineering, information security, applied statistics, or mathematics, have a good understanding of theory and current industrial practices in software engineering, software and systems security, or data science, and have an aptitude and genuine enthusiasm for teaching. Experience of working in the software, data, or security industry, and previous teaching experience are highly desirable.

The post is fixed-term from 1 October 2018 – 30 September 2022
