Under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Helen Langton, the University is continuing to grow and there are a number of on-going exciting strategic developments, including the new DigiTech Centre in partnership with BT. The University now wishes to appoint a new Dean of the School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology.

The Dean of School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology will lead a multidisciplinary grouping of five academic areas (Architecture, Art and Design; Computer Games and Creative Technologies; Computer Systems and Engineering; Photography and Film; and Life Sciences). As a School we have strong focus on integrating arts and creative technologies with science and engineering.

The post-holder will capitalise on the considerable strengths of the school, building upon excellent student employability, strong links with local industry, and good quality teaching, research, innovation and engagement. Key priorities will include: identifying further areas of growth and expanding provision and placements, ensuring consistency of performance across the school, leading on research excellence, and bringing together a broad school, placing it in the best possible position to take advantage of opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity to have a tangible impact upon the future of a flourishing school and the wider university.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Dean is responsible for the School’s academic and financial performance; and will lead the School through an exciting period of strategic development, to strengthen further its culture of academic excellence, and to identify and nurture areas for collaboration.

The ideal candidates will be academic leaders who bring a collegiate, enthusiastic and team approach to the role. They must be deliverers, skilled at building and nurturing local and regional external partnerships. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant and collaborative contribution to the development of the University.
