Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a Database Manager maternity cover in order to help us deliver our Birmingham In Action campaign. DARO has invested in a new CRM system (Blackbaud CRM) and this role is critical to the successful planning and execution of the Midlands’ largest ever campaign. The post holder is responsible for the leadership of the data team and the effective management and care of DARO’s extensive data resources. Reporting into the Head of Campaign Data & Insight, the Database Manger directly manages a team of three data professionals. The Database Manager will be an enthusiastic individual, a data expert, and an excellent project manager. They will have a strong working knowledge of databases and the effective management of data, deftly navigating large data sets and manipulating multiple streams to ensure seamless and accurate information is delivered to the wider department. This post holder will be a keen problem solver who can find innovative and creative IT solutions to match business processes and troubleshoot complicated, often critical, database issues. They will also have strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills and enjoy engaging with both internal stakeholders and colleagues across the wider sector. 

Brief outline of Main duties

The quality, accessibility and safety of the data we hold is fundamental. Reporting to the Head of Campaign Data & Insight, the post-holder will assume responsibility for the effective management of all data held by DARO. This requires understanding the needs and objectives of all the different stakeholders and ensuring our data enables them to succeed in the delivery of the campaign. This encompasses data integrity, consistency, compliance with legislation, and ensuring all staff have the tools, training and assistance to access the information smoothly and efficiently.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Experience managing a team of mixed skill and experience levels.
Experience working with, or managing a team working with, large data sets, high volume workloads and conflicting deadlines.
Experience working in both internal and externally facing customer service roles.
Excellent understanding of relational database structure, managing a large CRM system and ability to build complex queries and reports.
Demonstrable track record of accurately manipulating large datasets under challenging timescales.

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
