Data Scientist (Knowledge Transfer Partnership)

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Data Scientist with strong experience in Programming proficiency in Java, (or Python) and understanding of knowledge representation (KR) and semantic web technologies.
You will drive forward a unique academic and commercial partnership between University of Leicester and rradar and provide the foundations for developing an SaaS system that facilitates the automatic identification and quantification of risk event scenarios applicable to businesses. The product developed through this will target different markets starting with business insurance brokering and compliance and risk management.
You will be under the direction of supervisors from the University of Leicester and rradar, working in collaboration with team members. Based in Leicester, you will be part of the company’s R&D team.

About you
To be considered for this role, you should have a relevant PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline. This should include programming proficiency in Java, (or Python), as well as experience in web application development, HTML, JavaScript. You should have excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders with different levels of technical knowledge. You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of object-oriented design principles, knowledge representation (KR) and semantic web technologies.
