We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Data Scientist to join our UKRI GCRF One Health Poultry Hub team for a fixed term contract. You will play a key role in designing, developing and implementing a Hub data repository and portal, which integrates all scientific data generated by the Hub. In addition, you will assure the quality of the data, implement data security and transfer protocols and regulate access for academic researchers. 

You hold either a Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, or related fields; or a Bachelors degree in a similar field plus proven experience of applied database design, development and management. You will have strong skills in command-line scripting, data structures and algorithms; ability to manipulate, transform and edit large datasets; and deploy analysis packages (e.g. R, SAS) and programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, Ruby). You should be able to work effectively with scientific researchers with diverse cultural backgrounds, and for whom English is not the first language.
