The Department of Social Policy and Intervention (DSPI) is a world-leading centre of excellence for research and teaching in social policy and the development and evaluation of social interventions. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Data Manager to join an international research team led by Professor Lucie Cluver.

Professor Cluver works closely with the South African government, USAID-PEPFAR, UNICEF, the World Health Organisation and with other international NGOs, to provide evidence that can improve the lives of children and adolescents affected by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. Professor Cluver and her group lead large-scale longitudinal surveys and randomised controlled trials of interventions, combined with participatory qualitative research.

This role is fixed-term until December 2020 initially and is offered on a full-time basis. The role is available as soon as possible.

You will have a degree in computer science, social science or public health or equivalent experience, overseeing data management processes and maintaining servers. You will have a track record of writing and implementing successful data management plans, excellent IT skills and experience of developing tools for quantitative surveys. A highly organised individual, you will be able to work to tight deadlines. Previous experience of working in Southern or Eastern Africa and using open access software are highly advantageous, as is experience of working with large databases and an understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL).
