Job description
Job summary

This role supports the programme of innovative educational outreach activities within the unique Dangoor Reach Out Makerspace that opened at Imperial College London’s White City Campus, in autumn 2017.

The premise of the Reach Out Makerspace is to encourage young people – particularly from hard-to-reach backgrounds in our local communities – to design, build, tinker and explore STEM and the arts through hands-on approaches. There will be a fully equipped workshop and studio with equipment such as 3D printers, CAD facilities, development boards and laser cutters for making, coding and digital fabrication, as well as more traditional equipment for woodwork, and other craft activities.

This role will join the Makerspace team at our White City campus. As part of the wider Outreach team, you will support us in assessing the impact of our suite of Maker Challenge programmes. You will provide front-line support in the collection, cleaning, storage and reporting of pupil, evaluation and event data from activities delivered within the Reach Out Makerspace.

You will support the Makerspace team with the collection and processing of data related to the programmes in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. You will be responsible for processing and clearly presenting the data to ensure efficient reporting to funders and other stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To enable the fast and accurate transfer of datasets across systems used by the wider Outreach team.

  • To assist the Data and Evaluation team in ensuring database records are always compliant with GDPR and Child Protection policies.

  • To work closely with the Makerspace and Data and Evaluation teams to create and implement new methods of evaluation including cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys (e.g., using Qualtrics systems) and focus groups.

  • To support the evaluation of the Maker Challenge programmes by identifying and implementing different methods of presenting qualitative and quantitative data, e.g., creation of infographics

  • To support the programmes team to design future iterations of the programmes by analysing data to predict gaps in provision
