CSConnected Programme Manager

Updated: about 1 month ago
Location: Cardiff, WALES
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 25 Jun 2021

We are recruiting an enthusiastic, highly-motivated individual with proven managerial and technical knowledge to lead the coordination and management of the Strength in Places Fund (SIPF) ‘CSconnected’ project.

The successful applicant will have a key role in supporting the SIPF consortium and South Wales semiconductor cluster in its next stages of evolution and growth, driving collaborations with industry, HE and FE partners and government bodies.

This £43million, 54-month project aims to strengthen the position of the compound semiconductor cluster in South Wales to compete in rapidly evolving global markets.  It is part-funded by UK Research and Innovation’s Strength in Places Fund (£25million) with the balance of investments provided by consortium partners, including Cardiff and Swansea Universities, the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, seven industry and two government partners.

The SIPF project consists of a core of four collaborative R&D projects focussed on different CS technology areas, each led by an industry partner.  Further funds will strengthen development of the cluster through coordinated promotion, branding, business development and international activities, alongside upgrading of existing office accommodation to support a CSconnected ‘front-of-house’.  Funding will also support skills initiatives with a focus on strengthening cooperation around the workforces needed by the cluster in future.  The SIPF project is part of a wider portfolio of activities and investments in compound semiconductors across the region.

The ideal candidate will have experience of management and leadership of multi-partner, industry-focussed programmes, strong project management and financial reporting experience, and demonstrate strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.  Applicants must hold a Project Management qualification and have experience of Compound Semiconductors in the academic or industrial environment.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post at Grade 8 level, starting in August 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter, until 31 May 2025.

Salary: £51,034 - £59,135 per annum (Grade 8).  The appointment will be made dependent on relevant qualifications and experience.
