Lakeside Arts seeks a passionate and talented Creative Programmer to join our team. You will lead the planning and delivery of the theatre, comedy, dance, and family entertainment parts of the public programme.
Lakeside Arts was created by the University of Nottingham to bring the benefits of the arts, culture and creativity to our local communities. This is a unique opportunity to shape the cultural landscape of Nottingham, engaging with our richly diverse local communities. We wish to represent all audiences and are especially keen to hear from applicants with experience connecting with global majority and additional needs groups. Please apply if you are excited to increase access, belonging, and joy through the arts.
As Creative Programmer, you will:
- Curate an artistic, entertaining, and commercially successful year-round programme. You will take risks with creative choices while ensuring financial sustainability.
- Own the (relevant parts of) the Lakeside programme - booking acts, arranging contracts and hospitality, deepening relationships with artists and promoters, managing budgets and liaising on technical and logistical requirements. You'll need to meet deadlines and stay cool under pressure.
- Work closely with Marketing to promote shows and sell tickets. Collaborate with operational teams to enable great audience experiences.
We welcome applicants who bring:
- A passion for making the arts more inclusive, especially along lines of ethnicity, disability, and economic background.
- Demonstrated experience successfully developing audiences.
- Knowledge of the UK theatre and family entertainment scene. Existing relationships a plus.
- Strong relationship building, communication, planning, and budget management skills.
- A creative spirit and growth mindset.
This role offers the chance to help Lakeside Arts grow and reach new audiences, and gives you the opportunity to make your mark on one of the leading arts venues in the region.
This is a fixed-term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) opportunity available for 24 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
If you have any questions about this role you may get in contact with the hiring manager, Ben Howarth, the CEO of Lakeside Arts at [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
It is a condition of this post that satisfactory enhanced disclosure is obtained from the 'Disclosure and Barring Service'.
