Courses Administrator - Training courses/Conferences

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Administrator with experience coordinating training courses, conferences or similar events to join our team. 

About the role:

You will support the development of a new programme of courses for researchers and healthcare professionals. As our Courses Administrator your responsibilities will include:

  • You will provide full administrative support to enable the development and delivery of a range of virtual/online training course.
  • You will coordinate arrangements for a small team of educational developers and course contributors.
  • You will be responsible for administering the application process, supporting the selection process, responding to questions from applicants, assembling course manuals/programmes and support the courses while they are running.
  • You will prepare logistical information to send to course speakers, instructors and participants. You will maintain accurate financial records and arrange payments to contributors.

About COG-Training:

This position is part of a new initiative – COG Training - to build international capacity by developing national SARS-CoV-2 sequencing capacity.

COG-Training leverages the world-leading expertise of COG-UK to enable other countries, particularly those of low and middle income, to benefit from COG-UK’s scientific, public health, operational and policy experience to build successful national SARS-CoV-2 sequencing capacity and in-country networks. This will be achieved by building a web-based peer-to-peer community centered on freely available learning resources, including online training courses, train-the-trainer courses and remote classroom teaching, developed and delivered in partnership with Wellcome Connecting Science.


Essential Skills
  • Extensive direct event organising experience gained in a similar role
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, organisation skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with very tight deadlines
  • Good IT skills – e.g. Microsoft applications, online communication platforms, multiple calendar systems  
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with people at all levels
  • Good financial record keeping

This is a full time position (37 hours per week) however we will also consider applications from those who wish to work a shorter week of 30 hours.
