The Opportunity:
The Garnett lab are seeking a computational Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) for the analysis of functional genomics datasets to understand the role of genetic interactions in human health and disease, and to guide discovery of innovate new precision cancer medicines.
About the Team:
Cancer is a genetic disease caused by the accumulation of changes within the DNA of cells that confers a growth and survival advantage. The Translational Cancer Genomics team investigates how genetic alterations in cancer contribute to disease and impact on response to therapy. We use a multi-disciplinary team approach combining large-scale data generation in cancer cell models together with data science to address key challenges in cancer and drug discovery. Our research is at the interface of cancer genomics, cell biology and cancer therapeutics, with a clear focus on translating our discoveries into practice.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for the analysis of large-scale CRISPR screening results, DNA and RNA sequencing datasets, and the use of a range of statistical and machine learning methods to integrate high-dimensionality genetic and functional data to understand genetic interactions in human health and disease, with a focus on oncology. You will work in close collaboration with the experimental team in charge of designing and performing the CRISPR screens as well as collaborate with the broader team and external collaborators.
About you:
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent scientist who brings creativity and passion to their work. You should have strong technical skills together with a desire to utilise and develop innovative approaches for analysing CRISPR screen data to study genetic interactions. You should be an excellent communicator with experience working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
