Role Overview:

As the Compliance Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Compliance team, driving the strategic improvement plan for Health, Safety, and Environmental issues. This role involves long-term planning, monitoring legislative changes, and guiding Estates Services toward accreditation in the control of Health and Safety and Environmental matters.

Key Responsibilities:

•     You will lead a really great Team of subject matter experts, in the areas of asbestos control, environmental management, industrial safety, fire system management and safety critical systems.

•     You will lead the Compliance Team in providing expert advice, assurance, and reporting on safety and environmental matters.

•     Contribute to annual reports on Safety Critical Systems, control of contractors, and Environmental Management.

•     Collaborate with the Operations leadership team to shape and deliver the Estates Services vision and strategy.

•     Liaise with the Safety Office, contributing to incident management improvements through data-driven analysis.

To Be Successful You'll Need:

•     Experience in a large university, construction, infrastructure, energy, or petrochemicals.

•     Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., environmental science, NEBOSH Diploma).

•     Knowledge of implementation and auditing of ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO 45001 would be a strong advantage

•     Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental management best practices and standards for a large organization.

•     Demonstrable understanding of CDM regulation (Construction, Design and Management)

•     Proven Team leadership skills with strategic thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to influence positively.

•     Excellent written and verbal communication skills for various audiences.
