We are looking for a pro-active, skilled marketing and events professional to join our team and contribute to the growth of the British Society of Soil Science.

About the Role

In summer 2022, the British Society hosted the World Congress of Soil Science (WCSS) in Glasgow.

Alongside WCSS, the Society has experienced an increase in its external awareness with a 14% growth in membership during 2021 and ever-growing social media channels, with a 9% average increase in the second quarter of 2022 alone. The Marketing, Events and Communications Coordinator will provide pro-active and re-active communications support, aimed at both members and stakeholders. The role will also include planning and organising the Society’s calendar of events including the two-day annual conference and dinner.

About You

With proven experience of working with social media, website management and external media, you will be responsible for curating our communications channels to increase engagement amongst members and drive awareness amongst our stakeholders, maximising the exposure of our activities. This will include working with journalists, the media and our members to ensure we can provide a scientific viewpoint on issues which relate to soil.

You will deliver outstanding end-to-end organisation for our annual programme of events including training courses, our annual conference and workshops.

You will be required to create highly engaging content and show a strong awareness of the specific requirements of audiences across different channels. You love words, but you understand that content is much more than just copy. You consider the whole experience.

There will be a requirement to coordinate work on behalf of the Society and to attend on site to organise conferences and events, throughout the year.
