This is a full time permanent or job share opportunity.

The Faculty of Medicine, based at University Hospital Southampton, are looking for an experienced communications professional to plan and deliver the Faculty Communications strategy for our diverse range of internal and external audiences. You will be confident and capable in driving digital platforms, outputs and engagement that really connect with audiences.

Building on this foundation, the Communications Manager will work closely with senior stakeholders to establish systems for capturing and sharing the real-world impact of our research, while also managing a portfolio of relevant projects that draw on their specialist communications knowledge and skills.

You will thrive in both an independent and team setting, with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills that can optimise this exciting and innovative role. You will have:

• excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to translate complex science into highly engaging content for technical and non-technical audiences via a range of channels (web, newsletters, news stories etc)

• experience of managing activities with competing priorities and timelines, 

• The ability to build effective and credible working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders including external partners

• A flexible approach and can-do attitude, with excellent attention to detail.

Experience of communications in the higher education sector is desirable. The successful candidate will either be educated to degree level with a recognised qualification in media, communications or journalism, or have equivalent experience. Above all, we are looking for someone who can dovetail effortlessly into our team, quickly apply relevant skills and expertise and bring enthusiasm and innovation to our Faculty communications.
