An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Support Assistant to join our busy Commercial department within the Estates & Facilities Directorate at the University of Wolverhampton. You will be responsible for assisting the directorate in the processing of purchase orders and central contracts, working closely with the team to ensure the smooth running of this important department.

This role covers many areas of a commercial environment, so you will need to show your background and abilities within this area.

Commercial Support Assistant responsibilities

To assist in the deliver transactional commercial activities for the Directorate, supporting with ordering activities, processing of invoices, resolving queries relating to invoices and payments. 

  • Assist with compilation of data, monitoring, and report on KPI performance on identified key contracts across the Directorate, supporting the Commercial Manager on implementing service improvement measures where required.
  • Ensure the Department is working within the University Financial Regulations and Procurement Procedures in the delivery of service provision.   
  • Be responsible for the collation, distribution, logging and filing of all contracts for the department including collateral warranties and leases.
  • Support with the provision of information for compiling and submission of internal and external statutory returns on building condition, space utilisation, and performance as and when required.
  • To support and assist others within the team to deliver all elements of the department obligations to the Directorate and wider University.

Commercial Support Assistant Requirements 

  • GCSE English and Maths grade C or above, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a customer services environment.
  • Experience in being able to deal with challenging customers and difficult situations.
  • Able to work in a disciplined manner and following procedures.
  • Good IT skills and IT knowledge – competent keyboard skills, ability to input / save data and use of software.
  • Enthusiastic and excellent organisational ability.
  • Ability to handle matters of confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Ability to produce correspondence to go out to students, and external suppliers in a professional manner.
  • Experience in providing accurate and key information to contribute to decision making.
  • IT skills and be proficient in the use of word, excel, databases and other Microsoft packages.
  • Understanding of and respect for cultural diversity.
  • High level of accuracy with a meticulous approach to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills including planning and prioritising to meet strict deadlines.
