Compliance Officer

The University of Salford is now looking for a new Commercial Services Officer!

Reporting to the Commercial Services and CRM Manager, the role will support and develop the operational aspects of commercial services delivery. You will work closely with professional services and academic colleagues to coordinate and manage the activities which take opportunities through the due diligence, scoping, costing and contracting process, to the point of commercial delivery.

You will become the “go to” individual in the organisation within your area, providing expert external client support and internal advice and guidance.  You will take a hands on, pivotal role in the delivery of internal processes and policies and the guardian of institutional policy and processes in practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience in contract law and drafting/negotiating contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist knowledge and support services for commercial activities and services, becoming the go to individual on how, when, where and who. Acting to facilitate, guide and support internal colleagues undertaking complex commercial work through the University's professional support policies and processes.
  • Ensure robustness and diligence in the performance of contracts and the implementation of commercial processes and policies, advising on new business opportunities and activity, guiding staff through the approvals processes.
  • Manage the horizon scanning process for commercial tender and grant opportunities, applying your knowledge of areas of expertise and research to triage incoming alerts, and taking appropriate opportunities into the Schools through an agreed engagement framework.

  • Analyse competitor and external pricing and overall competitiveness of the commercial offer, lead on the cost negotiation with the clients and lead academic and research colleagues through the commercial processes of the University
