About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented Knowledge Exchange Professional to join our Commercial Team as a Commercial Officer to drive the delivery of our new Commercialising Research out of Social Sciences (CRoSS) project. The project aims to develop and build the skills, capacity and capability of our social science researchers and knowledge exchange professionals, as well to identify, support and drive forward new and interesting commercial opportunities arising from our leading social science research programmes.

Creating broad socio-economic benefits from our research is one of the key aims of the University’s strategy and the post-holder will work with various teams in supporting the University's commercialisation strategy, including developing scaleable models for maximizing social good, adopting new approaches such as co-creation models and building networks with other KE professionals and practitioners.

This post falls under the University of Leicester’s WorkSmart agile working scheme, meaning that there will be opportunities for remote working on a flexible basis.


About you

We are looking for someone who gets excited about delivering the broad socio-economic benefits that can arise through effective commercialisation of social science research outputs.

We would expect the ideal candidate to be qualified to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a social science discipline, with a good understanding or experience of Knowledge Exchange and/or commercialisation in a University setting. We would also expect some previous experience of managing projects to deadlines and of building effective working relationships with researchers and academic staff.  

Alongside these experiences, you should have demonstrable skills in report writing, problem solving, strong interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence and communication (including presenting information and report writing).
