The University of Southampton Library Service is seeking to appoint a new Collection Development Manager.

The role holder will play an important role in the Library’s flagship Collections, Development and Discovery Project (£2M) reviewing all book stock in our main site Library (over 0.5M items) and utilising our newly acquired off-site conservation grade store. In consultation with our user communities this is an essential pipeline project for an exciting major capital investment to transform the Hartley Library.

 The role

The post holder will manage the evaluation and operational aspects of print collections and e-resources. This will entail working across teams to evaluate and manage library content, supporting research and education across all user groups. The role involves acting as a source of expert knowledge on library collections, data and analysis.

About you

You will have excellent planning and organisational skills, effectively manage direct reports and a wider Collections Development team, and exercise good people management practices. You will have excellent analytical skills and be able to produce reports, briefings, presentations, and undertake data modelling. Committed to continuous improvement, you will be able to analyse and develop collections workflows that are agile and customer-centred.
