Applications are invited for a Clinical Training Fellow who will join the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, a recognised centre of excellence for clinical research training and education in neuromuscular diseases. The job concentrates on the development and validation of outcome measures in Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM).

Biological samples are collected regularly from IBM patients. Health economic analyses are being planned to support ongoing trial initiatives. The Fellow will be expected to support the above activities, will evaluate MRI quantitative changes that occur during Inclusion Body Myositis, will learn how to draw MRI regions of interest (ROIs) and will apply this knowledge to data obtained from an ongoing IBM clinical trial with an imaging component (exploratory endpoint).

Applicants must be registered Medical Practitioners and have completed general medical training, and hold MRCP, or equivalent. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong problem solving abilities, good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting, and a very high level of consideration and care for patients and research subjects are also required. Experience of clinical / translational research, muscle or metabolic disease and understanding of research methodology are desirable. An honorary clinical contract will be sought from the UCLH/NHNN Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
