This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual to join us as Senior Lecturer/Professor (dependent on experience) and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry (or restorative subspecialty). The successful applicant will provide leadership in research and teaching in Restorative Dentistry (or sub-specialty). The post-holder will be expected to conduct high quality research and to provide teaching in Restorative Dentistry (or sub-specialty) at all levels, including undergraduate, postgraduate and trainees, including clinical/chairside supervision primarily for undergraduate and postgraduate students. An honorary consultant position with NHS Tayside will be sought.

Key priorities will include:

  • Provide senior leadership roles as appropriate in Restorative Dentistry (or subspecialty)
  • Undertake research leading to high-quality REF-returnable publications and apply for external grants and funding opportunities to enhance research profile
  • Lead development of teaching initiatives including assessment in Restorative Dentistry and related disciplines
  • Develop and deliver clinical and didactic teaching in Restorative Dentistry (or restorative sub-specialty)
  • Undertake clinical duties as Honorary Consultant within Restorative Dentistry (or subspecialty) in conjunction with NHS Tayside, including training of training grade and SAS grade staff

Who we’re looking for:

  • BDS qualification or equivalent
  • Full registration with the GDC at the time of commencing the post, and on GDC Specialist list for Restorative Dentistry or one of the restorative sub-specialties
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant specialty area
  • Evidence of high-quality research in restorative dentistry and/or restorative subspecialties.
  • Significant experience of teaching and assessment in restorative dentistry (or restorative subspecialty) at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
