Job summary

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Children’s Respiratory Clinical Research Nurse for the Inflammation, Repair and Development section of the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London.

You will be responsible for identifying, recruiting and consenting participants into clinical studies investigating preschool wheeze. This will involve close adherence to GCP and study protocols, excellent organisational skills and meticulous record keeping. Following enrolment, you coordinate within the wider research team to organise participant visits, collection of clinical data and research samples as part of the study. You will act as the primary liaison between the research team and participants and their families, so excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team, are essential.

You should be a registered paediatric nurse, ideally with some previous research experience. A relevant degree or equivalent qualification together with experience in working in research is desirable.


Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for Coordinating clinical studies specifically on the Breathing Together Study and other studies within the IRD section. As a part of this, you will be performing respiratory-led procedures for the study and also delivering the research in accordance with the protocol and guidance. Also, you will be responsible for building relationships with internal and external referrers and maintaining high standards of patient care. Essential requirements

  • You should hold a paediatric nursing qualification with registration at the NMC

  • Registered paediatric nurse with previous research experience

  • Documented ability in spirometry, collection and storage of human samples, ideally including nasal sampling

  • Able to work independently

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in clinical trials and knowledge of Research Governance Framework

This is a Full time & Fixed term role for 2 years, based between South Kensington and St Mary’s Campuses, London.
