Job summary

We are seeking to appoint two Clinical Research Fellows, who will be involved in a major research project in digital health, technological innovation, patient safety or disease mechanisms directed by Professor Ara Darzi, while working towards a PhD degree. The research project will entail project design, experimental work in addition to data analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals.

The successful candidates will work across our research themes, including alongside policy makers and researchers in the Centre for Health Policy in the Institute of Global Health Innovation, product designers in the HELIX Centre, and leaders in Safety and Quality in the NIHR Patient Safety Translational Research Centre.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an interest in research and they would be expected to register for a higher degree (PhD). You must be able to demonstrate some previous experience in research and must show evidence of ability to develop personal research projects.


Duties and responsibilities

  • To provide a commitment to Imperial College London over a period to perform research leading to a higher research degree (MD(Res), MPhil-PhD)

  • To ensure ALS, ATLS and PALS (where appropriate) qualifications are up to date

  • To provide regular on-site resident medical officer support to a named hospital on a rota (without cover)

  • To provide urgent and immediate clinical support for patients in response to verbal or written requests by admitting Consultants and or Registered nursing staff



  • The post holders will also be required to fulfil clinical commitments within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, among others, to contribute to their on-call rotas.


Essential requirements

  • A degree in medicine (MBBS or equivalent) and full General Medical Council (GMC) registration is essential.

  • You will have or be working towards MRCS or equivalent.

  • We are seeking Core Trainee and Specialist Trainee level individuals, with appropriate ATLS/ALS qualification. Proven experience in an acute hospital setting is required.
