The Clinical Reasoning and Communications Skills Lead is a 3 PA/week post. The role will lead the Clinical Reasoning and Communication Skills (CRCS) theme in the Cambridge Clinical Medicine Course.
The postholder will provide the academic leadership of the theme and the work will encompass curriculum review and development (aligning the clinical reasoning and communications skills programme with the GMC Outcomes for Graduates), input into Final MB summative assessments, preparation and review of educational resources (including the virtual learning environment (MedEd) and resource packs for teaching sessions), oversight of the staff development of the teachers and simulated patients involved with the programme (including induction, ongoing educational development, peer-peer review, appraisal and teaching updates) and quality assurance of the teaching activities (including response to course evaluations and assessment psychometrics).
The role is based in the Clinical School in Cambridge and attracts 3 PA of funding. The role will be offered on a secondment agreement or a fixed-term contract, depending on the background/employment of the successful candidate. The role will be offered for three years in the first instance, to an individual employed by an NHS Trust or GP Practice within the region where the School of Clinical Medicine sends students on clinical placements. Candidates who are employed by a different organisation, or who are self-employed or retired, should contact the School of Clinical Medicine to discuss the feasibility of other options for appointment. This is a three year post, with the possibility of renewal for further years thereafter.
All candidates for the post should hold full GMC registration and a license to practice.
