Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases within the School of Clinical & Experimental Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton

This is a full time, permanent post and the successful applicant will hold a UK certificate of completion of clinical training (CCT) to enable them to hold an honorary contract as a Consultant in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at University Hospital Southampton. The post-holder will conduct clinical work within the Department of Infection, University Hospital Southampton with the ratio of clinical and academic work being approximately 50:50.

Working with the other academic staff in the School and Faculty, the appointee will conduct research aligned to the strategy of the Faculty of Medicine and the NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre. Specifically the applicant will have relevant expertise in microbial immunology and will be expected to utilise the local world-class expertise in controlled human infection and conduct research in mucosal and systemic immune responses to respiratory tract pathobionts

The post-holder will also have the opportunity to engage in basic and/or translational research activity, which is aligned with the School and will contribute to teaching activity of the School and Faculty.
