The Role and Department

The Cleaning Services Assistant will deliver a range of cleaning services within the Sports and Wellbeing Park, including the cleaning and servicing of the toilets, changing rooms, offices and all communal areas.

What you need to demonstrate when you apply    
 
When you apply it is important that you let us know what skills/experience you have from a similar role and/or what skills/experience you have which would make you right for this role including: 

Essential

  • Previous cleaning and/or housekeeping experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic digital skills including the ability to use core digital tools including internet email  
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills. 
  • Evidence of personal development to maintain skills.  
  • Experience of working in a team. 
  • Ability to manage time in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions, written or oral, accurately. 
  • Desirable

  • BICS trained.
  • Hold a First Aid certificate.

    Typical Role Requirements 


    Service Delivery

    •    Complete a set of tasks/procedures within the Facility Team to deliver a service to customers.   
    •    Follow instructions from a Team Leader to identify what a
    nd how to deliver a set of tasks or processes.    
    •    Learn the correct methods and tasks to undertake the role of Cleaning Services Assistant.
    •    Learn and adhere to general health, safety and security procedures.   
    •    Use a range of equipment, tools and resources, digital devices, software and applications where necessary.   
    •    Record and store information in a prescribed order.   
    •    Learn how to, and use manual and electronic everyday tools, equipment and applications to deliver services 
    •    A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and the University’s values.

    Team 

    •    Support your team members daily and assist when instructed. 
    •    Assist team members to deliver an excellent student, staff or visitor service.  
    •    Assist other team members with the application of basic audit and stock control tasks.   


    Communication/Personal 

    •    Be a committed colleague to our core values and behaviours. 
    •    Communicate with the Leisure Team Leader, Cleaning team members, other staff, students and visitors in person or using electronic tools and applications.      
    •    Any other reasonable duties.    

    Specific role requirements

    • Adopt and promote a flexible approach to working, and be willing to cover absences, when given reasonable notice.
    • Competent working under minimal direct supervision.
    • The role will require an element of physical manual handling, which can include lifting and transporting equipment and deliveries.
    • Attend all training and development, as required.
