Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (x2)

We are looking to recruit two full-time Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) to provide assessments and brief evidence-based psychological interventions for children and young people with anxiety and depression. These posts would be ideal for newly qualified CWPs.

Appointment will be at the top of Grade 4 of the University of Reading salary scale. On appointment, the post-holders will need to complete the standard 6-month probation period. The posts are full-time, fixed term for 13 months in the first instance (until 31st March 2023). At appointment, however, post-holders will be offered the opportunity to undergo a development programme that may – if successfully completed – lead to progression into a Grade 5 CWP role for a further 12 months in the first instance (subject to funding and approval by the University’s re-grading committee).

You will have:

  • A recognised CWP qualification at Postgraduate Certificate level or higher (Level 7 qualification for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland) and experience of delivering evidence-based, brief, CBT-informed interventions to children and young people with anxiety and depressive disorders.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health, including how anxiety and depression present at different stages of child development.
  • Experience of using routine outcome measures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding, and other relevant legislation and the ability to assess and manage clinical risk.
