At the Faculty of Education, the Institute of Education invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of School Education / Media Education

to be filled at the earliest possibledate.

You (m/f/x) will be responsible for this subject area primarily in German-language teaching, in particular in the teachers’ training degree programs for general schools (Allgemeinbildende Schulen) and especially in the education sciences modules of the Faculty of Education. At TUD, you will have the chance to actively expand on your research topics in varied and interdisciplinary research collaborations (e.g. the Climate and Societal Change Research Priority Area, academic supervision of the University School Dresden pilot project, the Disruption and Societal Change Center (TUDiSC)). In addition, we expect you to contribute to the conceptual development of degree programs, to mentor students in practical phases, to play an active role in academic self-administration, and to collaborate with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB).

We are looking for a professional with proven international experience in media education who is well-versed in the challenges that digitalization poses to education and socialization. You should be able to provide a good overview of the spectrum of school and extracurricular contexts from the perspectives of education sciences and socialization theory.  Candidates should focus in research and teaching on institutional school research, with a particular focus on the use of digital media as well as on the impact of mediatization and digitalization in school and extracurricular learning and educational processes as well as media literacy education as a requirement for social participation. With regard to your research activities, we expect your publications to be visible on an international scale and you should have professional connections in the academic community as well as experience in securing competitive third-party funding. Candidates should have a strong empirical focus s and an elaborated research methodology. We are looking for a dynamic, committed and highly responsible professional who can inspire our students through high motivation and didactic skills in the area of teaching. We expect you to contribute to shaping our faculty’s profile for the future through relevant research experience. In addition to the general requirements applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 59 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
