At the Faculty of Education, Institute of Education invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of School Education / Institutional School Research

to be filled at the earliest possibledate.

You (m/f/x) will be responsible for this subject area in the teachers’ training degree programs for primary schools (Grundschule) , middle schools (Oberschule) and high schools (Gymnasium) , in particular in the education sciences modules of the Faculty of Education. A research and teaching focus on the analysis of regional schools/school networks, national and international comparisons, or future requirements of professionalization in the teaching profession is desired. You should be prepared to make strong links to these focus areas in the content of your teacher training. At TUD, you will have the chance to actively expand on your research topics in varied and interdisciplinary research collaborations (e.g. the Research Priority Area “Culture and Societal Change”). In addition, we expect you to contribute to the conceptual development of degree programs, to mentor students in practical phases, to play an active role in academic self-administration, and to collaborate with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB).

We are looking for a professional with proven international experience in school education with particular consideration for institutional school research who is an expert capable of observing the multi-level system of school (educational governance), with its macro- (education policy and administration), meso- (individual schools and their management), and micro-structures (teachers, pupils, lessons). With regard to your research activities, we expect your publications to be visible on an international scale and you should have professional connections in the academic community as well as experience in procuring competitive third-party funding. There must be a clear empirical relation and an elaborated research methodology. We are looking for a dynamic, committed and highly responsible professional who can inspire our students through high motivation and didactic skills in the area of teaching. We expect you to contribute to shaping our faculty’s profile for the future through relevant research experience in research. In addition to the general requirements applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 59 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
