Birmingham Business School is seeking to appoint an inspirational Chair in Inclusive Leadership. While not limited to a particular disciplinary focus, we are seeking to strengthen our expertise in the following areas:
- ED&I with reference to developing and leading diverse and inclusive teams
- New business models and leadership
- Adapting to local and global change
- Institutions and trust
- Organisational networks and collaboration
- Small business governance and social entrepreneurship
Birmingham Business School is committed to Responsible Business, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity in our research and teaching and de-colonising the curriculum. We seek an inspirational Chair in Inclusive Leadership to provide academic impetus across these important projects and beyond. The postholder will become a key member of the Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation Group within the Department of Management, providing a focal point for developing colleagues, attracting grant income and boosting the quality and reach of research and teaching.
The Group teaches leadership across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We have a number of new MScs being developed and a major redesign of the MBA, providing opportunities to incorporate inclusive leadership. The postholder will develop research and teaching networks with colleagues across the Department, School and wider University, will be expected to develop a close working relationship with the Birmingham Leadership Institute, with potential for collaborations with the Health Services Management Centre, the Institute for Global Innovation and the Institute of Advanced Studies.
Main Duties
- Enhance School’s research and impact agenda, building collaborations and interdisciplinary partnerships inside and outside the University.
- Lead major funding bids which develop and sustain support for research.
- Publish high-quality internationally recognised outputs.
- Develop sustained, strong relationships with relevant external organisations, leading to impact.
- Champion and provide academic leadership in inclusive leadership, internally and externally.
- Mentor and support colleagues in their development.
- Promote the positive interrelationship between research and teaching, using own research to provide innovative teaching
Person Specification
- Outstanding, sustained international research, evidenced by a substantial record of international quality outputs and achievements.
- Proven ability to plan and lead delivery of research and teaching programmes.
- Successful, sustained collaborations with other teams/institutions and significant success in obtaining external grants.
- Track record in interdisciplinary working and bringing multi-disciplinary teams together.
- Evidence of developing research community and culture within previous institutions.
- Track record of attracting and successfully supervising high quality doctoral students
- Delivering excellence in the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and the student learning experience.
- Track record in translating research into academic and societal impact. Engaging with policy makers, third sector and business.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline
