The Department of Management has a collegial culture, with over 70 faculty organised across four disciplinary groups: Organisation, Work and Employment; Business and Labour Economics; Operations and Procurement Management, and; Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation (ELI). Research networks flourish within and across these Groups, with the Work Inclusivity Research Centre (WIRC) situated in the Department and several members of the Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business based there. The Department has a strong and supportive research culture, with regular seminars, reading groups and a healthy PhD programme. Early Career faculty are particularly supported with developing teaching and research. The successful applicant will be based in the ELI group, leading research and teaching initiatives involving members of that Group as well as across the wider Department, School and University.

The ELI group currently has 9 permanent members of staff. The Group has two intellectual centres of gravity: one around entrepreneurship and innovation, and the other around leadership, particularly within local economies. These themes overlap and members of the Group have research and teaching interests which span across them. These are important and growing areas of research and teaching for the Business School which relate to the School’s strategic theme of Responsible Business, and they feed into interdisciplinary research, teaching and engagement conducted inside the School and more widely across the university.
The Birmingham Business School is strongly committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and is particularly seeking applications from underrepresented groups. Applications will be assessed against the stated criteria and on merit.
