The Department

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT). CELT is the University’s academic development unit, and our focus is to build excellence across the institution by influencing the pedagogy, underpinning our courses, and shaping the environment and the curriculum to deliver the highest standards of teaching and learning across the institution. The model we seek to emulate (both online and face-to-face) is underpinned by strategies that promote engagement, value the voice of students, and enable effective and evidence-based approaches to teaching.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a team of academic developers and learning technologists, within CELT. Working with academic and professional services colleagues across the University, and the specific Schools/Colleges allocated, the postholder will support academic staff in developing the use of technology in learning, teaching, and assessment, ensure the levels of expertise across the institution continue to grow and promote and support excellence in teaching both online and in-person.  The University has invested significantly in developing an outstanding online / blended learning approach to learning.

The Person

The postholder will have excellent knowledge of supporting teaching and learning in higher education, and the associated pedagogies. Their approach will be innovative, creative, and focused on students’ needs. They will need to have a detailed, in-depth understanding of technologies used to support learning at UWL, and a sound understanding of learning theories underpinning student learning.
