Updated: about 4 hours ago
Location: Cambridge, ENGLAND
Job Type: PartTime
Deadline: 04 Aug 2024

The Wellcome - MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI) is an international centre of excellence for stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Scientists in the Institute collaborate to advance our knowledge of various stem cell types and their developmental origins, and to perform pioneering work in translational research areas, providing the foundation for new medical treatments (https://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/ ).

The Tissue Culture Facility enhances the quality and efficiency of cell culture research within the CSCI. We provide support and resources to a large number of busy stem cell culture laboratories, catering to a wide range of specialities from ES cell derivation to virus production.

We are seeking a Cell Culture Laboratory Technician to join the Tissue Culture Facility team. The role holder will have daily supervision from the Tissue Culture Research Laboratory Technician and will be expected to produce high volumes of sterile aliquots, cell culture and culture media, run routine assays, contribute towards the smooth running of the facility and provide fully detailed, traceable records for all reagents produced.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to A level or NVQ level 3, with previous practical experience of working in a tissue culture laboratory. Experience of culturing cells lines and stem cells is desirable, but training can be provided. This role will require a high degree of precision and accuracy, so organisational skills and attention to detail are essential. We are seeking someone with good communication skills who will work well as part of a team.

Candidates with minimal laboratory experience, but with high levels of manual dexterity, precision, accuracy and attention to detail are encouraged to apply, but would be appointed at a lower grade until fully competent at aliquot and cell culture production.

This position is for 20 hours per week spread over 4-5 days (Monday ¿ Friday).
