Job Purpose

As a food and beverage supervisor you will be required to support the efficient operation of services across multiple outlets whilst delivering the agreed standards, targets and KPIs. The food and beverage supervisor is responsible for directing and scheduling the team of operational and front of house staff whilst supporting the management team in the day to day running of retail units on Campus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervise the efficient running of multiple university retail units by ensuring food and drink offers to students and staff are consistently available and delivered to the required standard.

2. To manage the orders of the retail unit through the Saffron stock control system and ensure daily transfers are completed for each outlet.

3. Ensure the daily menus are displayed with correct allergen information and all counters are properly merchandised and ticketed.

4. Organising daily rotas and breaks for the FOH staff.

5. Ensure till prices are updated and work alongside the admin assistant on daily EPOS requirements.

6. Build effective relationships with team members, empowering them to bring forward new ideas to improve the offer and service delivered.

7. Decision making with respect to any staff requests, communicate requirements if any minor concerns and escalating more complex issues to the Section Manager.

8. Liaising with the Chef Manager regarding dietary needs, ordering of stock, menus and ticketing.

9. Take control of ordering stock, department transfers and assist with monthly stocktaking for the department.

10. Ensure compliance with food safety is adhered to.

11. Demonstrate a passion for customer service excellence and offer a personalised service that exceeds customer expectation.

12. Recommend any training requirements for the team and input into development opportunities if necessary.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.

A2 A formal qualification in hospitality with a business focus is advantageous.

A3 Excellent knowledge of Microsoft platforms such as Word and Excel.

Desirable:

B1 Knowledge of catering management software, such as Saffron.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Experience of supervising health and safety within a similar environment.

E2 Experience of working in a hospitality, commercial or similar environment.

Terms & Conditions

Salary will be £13.00 per hour.

This post is full time (37.5 hours per week, 5 over 7 days, inc 1 in 4 weekends) and open ended. Flexibility will be required by mutual agreement and there may be some weekend and public holiday working at peak periods.
