The Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) is situated in West Cambridge and has large meeting, seminar and lecture room facilities.  The IfM hosts regular meetings and events and the catering and hospitality function is an important and central feature of the Institute.  The Catering Supervisor oversees and delivers the catering and hospitality service at the IfM ensuring that a quality service is provided in accordance with Environmental Health guidance and in adherence to financial targets. 

This is a hands-on role, and you will manage the day-to-day running of the operation, including staff supervision as required, to provide a catering and hospitality service in the IfM Servery and common room for staff, students and visitors, as well as providing catering for the many meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences hosted by the IfM for colleagues and external visitors.  You will be a member of the wider front of house team and, as such, will provide cover for members of the reception team if required and assist with general admin tasks. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Common Room and Common Room kitchen areas used by IfM staff and students, are kept in a presentable state throughout the day. 

You will be educated to at least GSCE standard and hold a Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety and Hygiene (Catering).  You must be familiar with working in a catering environment and have the ability to work accurately with figures and manage a budget. Good interpersonal and customer service skills are essential for this role as well as experience of handling cash.  Previous experience of staff management would be desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
