The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world.

The role

The University of Surrey Campus Services Catering owns and manages its own in-house campus catering outlets and conference services. The catering facilities include several restaurants, coffee shops and bar services, serving a range of menu choices, and beverage offerings, including all internal and external event catering. The catering department is a 7 day a week operation, with over 30 core staff, 100 temporary staff, and 9 outlets, with an additional outlet from October 2024. This in turn will increase the output in the catering office.

We currently have a key Office Administrator position vacant in our central catering office, which is a small team of 3 (including the vacancy). The main purpose of this position is to support the catering department with Agresso invoicing and PO processes, supporting the input and processing of data in our till system, and ensuring our compliance within the finance system. The role is key in supporting the wider catering management team, from booking of equipment repairs and quotations to general administrative work (reporting of absence, holiday trackers, organising of training).

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer service and hospitality, with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the compliance requirements for different catering outlets. You’ll have experience working collaboratively across multiple teams, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially technically proficient with Excel), and the ability to convey facts to colleagues, both verbally and in-writing

What we can offer

Alongside our gorgeous campus setting, collegiate on-site atmosphere, and plentiful development opportunities, we also offer:

  • 35 days holiday (20 days annual leave + 7 university closure days + 8 bank holidays)
  • Additional day of leave per year of service for 5 years
  • Highly competitive pension
  • On-site discounted nursery/childcare
  • Electric vehicle leasing scheme
  • Discounted Surrey Sports Park membership
