Saïd Business School, University of Oxford are seeking an experienced Category Buyer, to report to the Head of Purchasing. The Category Buyer will support the delivery of robust purchasing and supplier management strategies across the Said Business School and its subsidiary, Oxford Saïd Business School Ltd.

The post holder will be required to build strong relationships both internally and externally, namely with stakeholders within the School, the wider University Purchasing function and with our strategic suppliers. In doing so, they will they ensure that our business needs are thoroughly understood and effectively met, whilst allowing us to leverage the purchasing power and expertise of the wider University.

Given the volume of purchasing activity undertaken, an area of particular focus will be in supporting the CIO and Director of Estates with their contracting and supplier management. Both areas will face significant change over the coming years, as we bring a major new teaching and residential facility into use.

The post holder will benefit from a keen interest and enthusiasm for IT and technology-based solutions and will demonstrate experience of managing contracts where innovation and quality are as important as price.

The School is also working hard to improve the sustainability and inclusivity of its operations. The post holder will help to ensure these commitments are reflected in our supply chain.

To be considered, you will have experience of developing and implementing category management plans, experience of letting/tendering agreements and frameworks with suppliers to generate savings and efficiencies. You will have strong negotiation ability and experience in driving value for money to reduce risk. Ideally you will also have good analytical skills, having confidence in extracting and manipulating data.
