Casual – Wifi Warrior
Rate of Pay: National Minimum Wage per hour plus 12.07% accrued holiday per total value
Working Hours: 15 hours per week
Duration: 9th September 2024 - 29th November 2024 with the potential of continuing until 28th February 2025
The Library and Computing Services (LCS) professional Strategic Business Unit (SBU) is responsible for the University's digital infrastructure, providing technical support and digital skills development for students and staff. The school provide information services, information technology, and learning resources.
The LCS department are looking for a casual Wifi Warrior in the Support Department who is friendly, reliable and personable Wifi Warriors to attend the entrances to both the College Lane Learning Resource Centre and the library at De Havilland plus attendance at some events – start of term etc.
You will greet students to help them with Wifi and multifactor authentication problems. You will be a direct representative of Library and Computing Services and using your people skills, will be able to problem solve issues with their devices. You will be confident with technology and will be able to bring issues to a conclusion in a professional and approachable manner.
You will need to be adaptable and be able to communicate effectively to gain the information you need to solve problems. Patience and consideration for the struggles of foreign students is a must. Full training will be provided.
Main duties & responsibilities: To be the first point of contact to visitors with problems including access to the Wifi and multifactor authentication. Using excellent customer service skills with a friendly and helpful attitude to your work. Troubleshooting problems on different models and operating systems of mobile phones / tablets. This is added to confidence with using all kinds of laptops (PC, Mac and ChromeBook etc).

Skills/Qualifications Required:
• Customer service experience is desirable as is PC, Mac, ChromeBook operating systems – laptops and tablets.
• Android / iPhone operating systems.
• Problem solving skills are essential and a willingness to go the extra mile.
