Career Development Fellowship in Ancient Greek

St Hilda’s College invites applications for a Career Development Fellowship in Ancient Greek for four years from 1 October 2024. Applicants will be expected to have been successfully examined for a doctorate, but be at an early stage of their academic career, and should have some relevant teaching experience. The post-holder will be required to engage in research, to provide six hours of undergraduate teaching in Ancient Greek language and literature per week for St Hilda’s College, and to share in the admissions and subject administration of Classics in College. There is no possibility of renewal beyond 30 September 2028.

The appointee will be paid on a scale from £36,024 (point 1) to £39,347 (point 4) per annum (University Grade 7, current rates), depending on experience. Membership of the USS pension scheme is offered. There is a research allowance (payable against receipts) of £1,800 per annum, and access to a student entertainment allowance of £400 per annum. The appointee may also be able to apply for limited additional project support through the St Hilda’s small research grants scheme. The appointee will have an office in college and will be a member of the Senior Common Room, entitled to all meals in St Hilda’s, when the kitchens are open. The appointee will be nominated for membership of the sub-faculty of Classical Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford.
