Applications are invited for a full-time Research Technician who will be based in the Cancer Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL), Clifford Allbutt Building, Hills Road, Cambridge.

The CMDL is a key strategic resource for the Integrated Cancer Medicine Programme aimed to translate cutting edge genomics methods for advanced diagnosis and clinical management of cancer at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre funded by NIHR-BRC and CRUK CC Integrated Cancer Medicine theme (https://crukcambridgecentre.org.uk/research/strategic/cancer-molecular-diagnostics-lab )

The Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR-BRC) at the Addenbrookes campus in Cambridge is a leading site for experimental medicine research (http://www.cambridge-brc.org.uk/ ).

The post holder will be responsible for carrying out analytical molecular pathology investigations including nucleic acid extraction and quantification, PCR, sequencing, library preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and digital PCR. With other team members, the role holder will also be required to process patient samples (primarily blood, for buffy coat, plasma, PBMC and granulocytes isolation). The post holder will take responsibility for a proportional part of the lab workload and will actively participate in monitoring, maintaining quality performance keeping rigorous audit trails of the work carried out, writing, and updating documentation such as SOPs. They will also be required to input data on the labs LIMS system.

The post holder will also regularly participate in other laboratory duties such as routine and corrective maintenance of equipment, stock levels monitoring, ordering and receipt of consumables.
