Business Development Manager – Defence & Security Industry

This new full-time post is available from July 2022 until 7 April 2023 on a fixed term basis.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

Summary of the role

The University of Exeter is seeking an experienced business development manager to lead its collaborations within the Defence & Security sector as well as support the relationship management of a range of key clients and strategic corporate partners.

The University of Exeter has expertise across a wide range of defence and security challenges.  It has strong relationships with businesses, government, policy makers and other non-academic partners in this sector and makes a real impact on society and the economy.

The successful candidate will have experience of working successfully with partners from across academic, public and private sectors and will have extensive knowledge of research and education innovation opportunities and the knowledge exchange needs of the sector. They will be responsible for coordinating and supporting existing activities, identifying opportunities, submitting bids and tenders, working with researchers from across disciplines and colleges, and engaging with industry and policy makers.

This role will be based in the University’s Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) team.  Its key aim is to draw on the University’s education, research and physical assets to add value and impact to our partners. This includes research collaboration, commercial services, new venture development, skills, placements, and education partnerships.
