The role will be based at Spearfish, an independent SME that provides security risk management for a number of large UK foreign aid programmes in such places as Nigeria, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Kenya. Spearfish currently deliver advice to clients utilising a network of in-country advisors to distribute timely, accurate and relevant information to manage their risk. The post-holder will also have access to staff at SBS and the Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) department at the University of Southampton which is a Russel Group university with international excellence and reputation for business and data analytics. This role presents a unique and exciting opportunity to collaborate with industry and leading academics, to apply knowledge and business innovation to Spearfish’s processes, and to identify new market opportunities and improve productivity. 

We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our team and facilitate the seamless integration of our Duty of Care Centre (DOCC) with other systems, including the Travel Approval Portal. As a Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication, data exchange, and enhanced user experience across platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, work with software developers to design integration solutions, and implement robust and scalable integrations using Microsoft technologies. 

Skills, Attributes and Experience will include: 

Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field. 

Good knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, and data synchronisation mechanisms. 

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues. 

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team. 

A good understanding of project management and project management tools. 

Nice to Have: 

Proven experience as a Business Analyst, working with Microsoft technologies, such as Power Automate, Power BI, Azure, SharePoint, and Teams. 

The successful candidate will be employed by the University and will be based at Spearfish Security in Winchester, where they will lead on the business and data analytics of the project and be supported by academics from SBS and ECS at the University of Southampton. The position is for 6 months. The start date is as soon as practical.
