Salary

Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £35,559 to £39,434 per annum, with potential progression up to £48,855 per annum

About the Role

As part of the Energy & Environment Team within Facilities the BMS Engineer will be responsible for the control systems that include heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting, in over 60 buildings across the University campus. Reporting directly to the Energy and Environment manager this individual will play a key role in the delivery of the University’s environmental targets and achieving a comfortable working environment for colleagues located in buildings across campus.  

About You

Ideally you will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject and you will be able to demonstrate the required experience in BMS systems operation, maintenance and development and your knowledge and understanding of key guiding frameworks which are the ISO 50001 and the ISO 14001 standards.

Working effectively within a team or on individually assigned projects you will be able to manage multiple project streams in line with deadlines set. Able to effectively analyse and interpret data, you will be able to make information decisions and advice on the most effective course of action. You will be proficient in report writing and presentation skills and able to communicate effectively with colleagues across all levels of the organisation, influencing outcomes when necessary.

The team manages energy and environmental issues for the University estate and provides advice and support to the individual schools, departments and tenants. This includes energy and water procurement, recharging energy and water costs, waste management, sustainable transport, grounds management, biodiversity and pest management. We are also responsible for the University’s Carbon Management Plan, reporting for the SECR, and coordinating ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and Energy and Environmental Management Systems implementation and development.
