Biostatistician, Analyst

• 0.8 FTE, part time fixed term until April 2023, possible full-time opportunity and extension based on ongoing performance and funding
• Opportunity to bring your statistics, development and implementation expertise to all aspects of scientific analysis to the Save Sight Registries team
• Base Salary $98,645 - $105,305 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Save Sight Registries has established a system of national ongoing prospective audit of the outcomes of the treatments various ophthalmic diseases, web-based software system and other novel data collection strategies. The Biostatistician - Analyst will undertake the scientific, statistical and analytical aspects of the project under direction of the Chief Investigator. The Biostatistician - Analyst is a member of the Save Sight Registries team and is responsible for development and implementation of all aspects of scientific analysis. It is closely associated with the Macular Research Group clinical team and will provide expert statistical advice more broadly across the group.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• plan and execute analyses of the Save Sight Registries data both Nationally and Internationally
• contribute to database development
• provide timely and accurate support and contributions for preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant applications
• contribute effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• work with and provide students and research fellows support and guidance on their projects which are associated with the Registries data
• provide expert statistical advice across the group for all modules; and keep up to date by reading relevant literature and communicating findings
• Perform appropriate duties as the publication manager for the Registries including writing and amending the publication policy
• verify, clean and analyse data and extract information from a database using both simple and complex queries

About you

• has demonstrated experience using statistical analysis software (preferably R Statistical Software) and undertaking statistical analysis of health research projects
• has demonstrated statistics expertise together with database query writing and reporting experience
• has demonstrated experience in design of health research projects
• has demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and familiarity with version control software (GitHub)
• has experience with health information management
• has demonstrated experience writing complex analytical reports and manuscripts
• has the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team including international collaborators such as pharmaceutical companies and Chief investigators from various countries
• has sound organisational skills and ability to effectively manage competing priorities
• has sound communication skills both written and oral and experience in the delivery of research training methods
• has working knowledge of State and Federal privacy legislation with regard to database security and management of confidential information
• has experience with quality assurance activities including performance benchmarking
• you will be required to attend at least one international and one national conference per year.
