About the Role
The post will be part of the Biochemistry Department within the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences. The successful candidate will ensure the upkeep, maintenance and safety compliance of the Biochemistry research laboratories in one of our buildings on Mile End Campus, currently occupied by researchers in the fields of biochemistry, structural and synthetic biology, and biotechnology.
Due to the nature of work involved, the operational core requirements of this role can only be met effectively when working on campus. This role is therefore exempt from a regular pattern of hybrid working. Remote working may be considered where the task undertaken permits and where there is sufficient cover on campus to fulfil service needs.
The post is to cover maternity leave, part-time (0.6FTE, 21 hours per week), with a start date as soon as possible until 30th of April 2025. It may end sooner if the post-holder exercises their right to return to work earlier.
About You
You hold a degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant field, ideally biochemical sciences. You will be comfortable providing technical expertise, H&S guidance and hands-on practical support over a broad range of laboratory activities.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
Benefits
In return, we offer 30 days’ leave per annum, access to a pension scheme, a season ticket loan scheme and competitive salaries.
