About the Role

The post will be part of the Biochemistry Department within the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences. The successful candidate will ensure the upkeep, maintenance and safety compliance of the Biochemistry research laboratories in one of our buildings on Mile End Campus, currently occupied by researchers in the fields of biochemistry, structural and synthetic biology, and biotechnology.

Due to the nature of work involved, the operational core requirements of this role can only be met effectively when working on campus. This role is therefore exempt from a regular pattern of hybrid working. Remote working may be considered where the task undertaken permits and where there is sufficient cover on campus to fulfil service needs.

The post is to cover maternity leave, part-time (0.6FTE, 21 hours per week), with a start date as soon as possible until 30th of April 2025. It may end sooner if the post-holder exercises their right to return to work earlier.

About You

You hold a degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant field, ideally biochemical sciences. You will be comfortable providing technical expertise, H&S guidance and hands-on practical support over a broad range of laboratory activities.

The School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences (SBBS) is divided into three departments – Biochemistry, Biology and Psychology and is home to over 100 academic staff, 40 postdoctoral researchers, 27 administrative staff and c30 technicians. We provide a supportive and friendly environment with a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching and research.
