The College of Biomedical and Life Sciences at Cardiff University has a proud history of producing world-leading researchers and pursuing research of the highest quality. Cardiff University as a whole was ranked 5th amongst UK universities in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework for quality and 2nd for impact, with a significant contribution from the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences.
In order to further facilitate quality research, a Cardiff University Biobank (CUB) has been established within the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences. This exciting development not only facilitates access to important clinical samples, it acts as a driver for national/international research collaborations and research grant applications and also provides a platform for sharing research outcome data thereby strengthening the usefulness of the biosamples.
The Biobank adheres to robust (legally mandated) governance systems, ensuring all legal and ethical obligations are met.
CUB will only have the desired impact if it is truly relevant to the research environment and has a sound operational function. To help us to drive the CUB forward and realise our ambitions we need to recruit and retain the very best individuals who can deliver excellence within a cohesive and ambitious team.
The Biobank Quality Manager will take the lead on ensuring the biobank facility continues to meet externally set quality standards (ISO 9001) particularly in relation to the bank’s quality management system. They will also take responsibility for coordinating the organisation of new collections for the biobank liaising with clinical staff to create new procedures and processes.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping deliver a world-class facility and will really make a positive impact.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of working in a biobank and /or biomedical environment, proven experience of conducting audits and/or reviewing documentation and procedures against regulatory requirements or University standards and proven experience in developing new procedures and processes.

This post is full time, available August 2021 and is open ended.

Salary: £33,797 - £40,322 per annum (Grade 6)
