Cancer Gene Therapy Group (CGTG), a part of Research Programs Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki is looking for a 

BIOANALYST

for employment lasting until December 31, 2023. A trial period of 6 months will be applied. Employment can start on November 1, 2022 or as agreed.

Cancer Gene Therapy group is located at Haartman Institute on the Helsinki Academic Medical Campus in Meilahti, Helsinki, Finland. Our research involves cancer immunotherapy with oncolytic viruses, checkpoint inhibitors and adaptive cell therapies and their interplay.

The appointee will participate in our group’s research projects under supervision of our current lab manager. Tasks will include fetching, processing, managing, maintaining and analyzing of clinical patient samples. Methods involved are e.g. PBMC isolation, neutralization antibody assays, qPCR. The tasks may include also cell culture, viral work, DNA work and animal work. Furthermore, the appointee will participate in laboratory maintenance by preparing reagents, following the consumption of laboratory supplies, placing orders, cleaning cell incubators and water baths etc.

We expect from you:

  • a degree of a bioanalyst, laboratory technician, laboratory assistant, or equivalent
  • interest in, enthusiasm and motivation for research and our group’s research topics
  • readiness for animal work
  • adequate written and oral skills in the English language
  • open-minded attitude

The salary will be based on level 6-7 of the demands level chart for expert and support personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities.
