The School 

The School of Biomedical Sciences was established in 2020 at the University of West London to provide a modern, research-driven learning environment. We host postgraduate taught courses in Dementia Studies, Person-Centred Health and Social Care, and Bioinformatics that attract graduates working in a range of settings including the NHS and industry.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established team of dementia researchers and educators. The Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory delivers research and education that informs and improves quality of care and support for people living with dementia, their families, and health and social staff caring for them. We are an interdisciplinary team that includes expertise in sociology, nursing, social policy, psychology, health policy, law, bioethics, epidemiology, and philosophy, hence our research draws upon a wide range of methodologies and is informed by our diverse disciplinary approaches.

The Role 

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to deliver capacity building and strengthen research activities and grant capture within the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory (GIAM). The successful candidate will undertake a substantial and significant project supporting the delivery and publication of a national consultation and evidence review to inform the government’s major conditions strategy. The post will also have operational responsibility for leading and promoting the development and delivery of interdisciplinary collaborative funding applications. 

Leading collaborations by developing strong internal and external collaborative partners and networks, identifying funding opportunities, producing policy, practice, and research synthesis, leading the planning and management of teams and resources, with responsibility for resolving problems and working with research support staff, through to the delivery of high-quality funding applications. The post holder will be encouraged to hold research grants as co-applicant, Co-PI, and PI.

The Person

The successful applicant will have a relevant post graduate qualification and a strong track record of mixed methods as applied to health services research and excellent qualitative and quantitative methodological skills appropriate to career stage. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in dementia and ageing research, health inequalities, co-production, intervention development, global health, and sustainability.
